Why is eBusiness Institute co-presenting at the GS1 Standards Event?
eBusiness Institute will be at the GS1 Summit in Dublin this week – meet us at the Mobile Ready Hero Images Implementation Experience session on Thurday 13th at 13.30pm (GMT+1). We will be co-presenting on Mobile Hero Images together with Coca-Cola, Tesco and SimpleUsability about our efforts to find a solution for tall, thin packs. Tall, thin packs pose a particular design problem since there is not much canvas on which to communicate the basics that shoppers need to know in order to select the right product: brand, format, variant and quantity. We have designed a solution following years of research across the industry that uses a variant bar and a size call-out. Tesco tested this in the Waters and Fizzy Drinks categories this summer.

What are Mobile Hero Images and why are they important ?
Online shoppers are increasingly using their smartphones to purchase items, but the smaller screen size makes it difficult to see what they’re buying. The most common mistakes are in buying the wrong size, followed by the wrong variant. Mobile Hero images serve to make the shopping experience, particularly for replenishments, quicker and easier by amplifying the most important elements needed to make a choice: brand, format, variant and size. Mobile devices showing tall, thin packs pose a particular design problem since there is not much canvas to communicate the basics that shoppers need to know to select the right product.
